Located at the north end of the Nishiarai Bridge over the Arakawa Spillway, Sekihara and Motoki areas are a collection of shops overflowing with the warmth and friendliness typical of downtown. With a long history, it all began in Showa 7 (1932) when local merchants formed the Fudo-kai to cater to the worshippers visiting Sekihara Fudo Shrine, launching major sales events during the mid-year and year-end periods. In Heisei 10 (1998), the shopping street was recognized as an "Excellent Shopping Street" by Tokyo.
The highlight of Sekihara Fudo Shopping Street is undoubtedly the [Morning Market]. Spearheaded by the Youth Association of the shopping street (Niseikai) and with the support of local residents (cooperative members), this market has been a local landmark for over 30 years. It is held on the first Sunday of every month from March to December, so please come and visit.
We will continue to walk together with the people of the town and our visiting customers, and we appreciate your continued patronage.
